Ly Outdoor Camp in Silkeborg
Ly Outdoor Camp campsite is scenically located in Silkeborg, overlooking Remstrup Å, which is part of Gudenåen - popularly known as the Silkeborg Lakes. Here, canoes, kayaks, SUP surfers and motorboats sail past alongside the paddle steamer Hjejlen - on their way to or from Himmelbjerget.
Close to town and attractions
Ly Outdoor Camp is only one and a half kilometres from the nearest shopping facilities and about two kilometres from Silkeborg's cosy harbour environment with ice cream parlours, cafés, restaurants, bakeries and cultural institutions such as Jysk Musikteater, Kedelhuset and Hjejlebådene.
On a trip to the harbour in the centre of Silkeborg, you can also stop by both Museum Jorn and Museum Silkeborg. Not far from the harbour is Torvet and the pedestrian zone, where you'll find shops and eateries to suit all tastes.
The campsite's neighbours are - in addition to AQUA, Vejlsøhus, Gl. Skovridergaard and Indelukket - nature. Forests and lakes. Here you can be active in running or hiking shoes, push yourself on mountain bike trails, practise yoga by the lakeside, canoe with the family or take a dip in one of Denmark's cleanest lakes.
Close to nature and outdoor activities
Silkeborg is Denmark's Outdoor Capital - and with good reason. With Silkeborg's fantastic location between forests and lakes, there is a wealth of opportunities for nature and outdoor experiences right outside the campsite:
Canoeing
It's ideal to go canoeing for a few hours or a full day trip to Himmelbjerget. Hire a canoe at Ly Outdoor Camp and take a trip on the river and the beautiful lakes.
Hiking and running routes
There is an almost infinite number of beautiful hiking and running trails in the area. Maps of the forests are available at the campsite café.
Mountain bike and cycling routes
The mountain biking offer in Silkeborg is one of the best in Denmark. Ly Outdoor Camp is located between Nordskoven and Vesterskoven in Silkeborg, where there are mountain bike trails to suit all technical levels. In Vesterskoven you'll find Denmark's longest downhill of 1.4 kilometres, and on Nordskoven's black track, you can ride a total of 12.4 kilometres between the forest's large Douglas firs and beech trees.
Lake baths
About 1.5 kilometres southwest of Ly Outdoor Camp is Almindsø with its two bathing establishments, Østre and Vestre Søbad. Almindsø is one of Denmark's cleanest lakes and is surrounded by a cosy forest. There are about four kilometres around the lake, which invites you to a beautiful hike with the viewpoint Kroghs Bænk.
The lakes are extremely child-friendly with bathing jetties, a sandy beach, toilet and changing facilities. At Østre Søbad you can also buy coffee, snacks and ice cream from a cosy mobile vending cart.
