Day trip on Kulturringen: Along the coast north and south of Aarhus

On this tour you cycle along the coast north and south of Aarhus. Along the way, you'll have a clear view of Aarhus Bay, the Aarhus skyline and the new waterfront. You'll pass Aarhus' most famous top attractions and through the large urban beech forests.

Start your bike ride at the rail station in Løgten. From here you cycle south along the coast.

Sea views and East Jutland's internationally recognised cultural institutions

With approximately 350,000 inhabitants, Aarhus is Denmark's second largest city. The city has roots in the Middle Ages and is undergoing rapid development.

The Middle Ages meet the present as you cycle along the waterfront. You'll pass Aarhus Cathedral, the largest and longest church building in Denmark and the beautiful old Aarhus Theatre. And you'll pass the city's modern harbour promenade and newly built harbour bath, sports facilities, iconic high-rise buildings and the city library Dokk1.

In Aarhus, you can take a lunch break at one of the city's many cafés or restaurants. Just a few hundred metres from the cycle route along the waterfront are the city's famous museums: The Old Town, the Viking Museum, ARoS Aarhus Art Museum and KØN - Gender Museum Denmark.

Architecture and deep forests

Continue cycling southwards. You'll now enter the Marselisborg Forest, characterised by tall beech trees and deep ravines. In the middle of the forest is Moesgaard Museum. Here you can explore the ethnographic and archaeological exhibitions and the spectacular museum building built into the landscape. From Moesgaard, turn your bike around and head back to Aarhus C.

Bicycles can be taken on the Light Rail outside rush hour. Read more about the rules for bicycles on the Light Rail here.
